HOUSE OF MEM
CENTRE FOR SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT
CENTRE FOR SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT
A safe place to explore and learn about spirituality in the Bow Valley... We are a community of spiritual practitioners from many traditions who find common ground by uniting in the centre point of The Four Directions. Join us at one of our gatherings. Share your medicine and fill your heart and soul with living waters —'MEM'!
The word 'mem' is the written expression of the letter 'M.' In the Abrahamic traditions, 'mem' is one of the three M-other letters connected to creation itself and is defined as water. Primordially, it represents the womb of creation, and so we welcome you to The House of Water or The House of the Mother - The House of Mem!
We are a not-for-profit society that relies on direct public support. Should you feel inclined, we gladly accept your financial contribution — thank you! |

who is the house of mem?
We are a society of spiritual seekers and practitioners that base our commonality on the movement of the moon and the sun throughout the calendar year directed through The Four Directions. We understand everything to be interconnected, the inner and outer, the micro and macro, the Earth and all her peoples. We aspire to show the interconnection and relationship of all Faiths through the interplay between us and the cosmos. We intend to foster an inclusive spiritual community that expresses the vibrancy and variation of creation and to bring a blessing on the greater community and land of the Bow Valley; for 'MEM' means water and, out of the heart will flow living waters, to nurture the Earth and each other.
We uphold all traditions and faiths, knowing that each person has the right to practice their form of spirituality in a safe and supportive environment, actively commemorating the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the rights of all peoples. We are here to support anyone who comes to our door to learn more about themselves as a spiritual being, whether through holding space, mentorship (educational programs) or financial assistance to further their spiritual development. From Earth peoples to Eastern Philosophies to Abrahamic Traditions, we are here; we are all spirit interconnected — TO ALL OUR RELATIONS!

The House of Mem has been informally gathering since 2017 and incorporated as a non-profit society on August 1st, 2018. Presently, we have 33 active members and provide support for an additional 80-100 spiritual practitioners. The organization was founded by Ria-Mae Long, who has been practicing as spiritual teacher and healer since 2015. Currently, she holds the position of President on the HOM Council and offers courses on Alchemy, including spiritual healing and guidance through her private practice at Spirit Energy Medicine. She also sits on the Board of Directors with the Hollow Bone Healing Lodge in Calgary.
"Over the past few years, I've watched a community emerge around me and seemingly overnight, my heart expanded as I became dedicated to her people and her growth! I'm so very excited to see how our future will unfold. It is a great honour and blessing to be in service to this community, so much gratitude for her peoples!" — Ria-Mae. |
