Sweat  Lodges

The Sweat Lodge is a traditional ceremony of the Indigenous Peoples of America utilized for prayer and healing. Historically it is a low dome structure made from willow branches and animal skins where participants sit in the dark (or the womb of the Earth) and pour water over hot stones (the ancestors) while performing prayers and healing songs by elders or keepers of the medicine. The ceremony itself is a humble and sacred act of gratitude and purification facilitated by someone who has gained the right and privileges to hold its medicine.

Every few weeks, our founder, Ria-Mae, takes small groups of five people to a Sweat Lodge in Calgary to help assist those working through their healing. Sweat Lodges are facilitated by Wade and Kelaena Maude of the Hollow Bone Healing Lodge, who are both honoured Pipe Holders through the Beaver Bundle of the Sarcee, the Tsuut'ina (Soots-in–naw) First Nations. Should you be interested in participating in this sacred ceremony and or seeking healing or renewal, please contact us to find out further details and the next available date. *Please note we are often booked a month in advance, and we break for the months of August and January.
